Brett Presland Stage 4 Brain Cancer Support

Brett has been diagnosed with stage 4 Brian cancer and his dr has given him 8-18months to live.

Brett, his wife Kristy and two boys now have quite a scary journey ahead and we would love to help them have this time together without any financial burden.

On a Thursday 8th of December Brett and his family, wife Kristy and two boys Jayden and Chase got some horrible news. Brett had a 5.5cm brain tumour. Filled with shock and preparing for surgery in the coming weeks, little did they know that they would be getting the most devastating news that would change their lives forever in just 4 short weeks.

After being hospitalised and meeting with the surgeon to discuss the removal, emotions were quite high and everyone was scared and emotional as expected. Surgery took place and after a nerve racking wait for the results of what this tumour was, our worst fears came along. It was found to be Stage IV Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), the most aggressive brain cancer possible of which the survival rate is very slim. The average survival rate whilst undergoing the normal treatment of intense Radiation and Chemotherapy is 12 to 15 months. The treatment of this particular cancer is extremely hard, due to the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) which is designed to protect our brain and keep out all the toxins, but when treating cancer it acts as a barrier that inhibits the treatment from working as well as it does in other parts of the body.

Brett’s doctors has given him a life expectancy estimation of 8-18months. Brett is due to meet with the oncology team in the coming weeks to prepare his treatment plan. After many tears and discussions, the family has come to the conclusion that while positive that he can fight this, however the need to be there to support Brett is imperative during this difficult time. With this comes a huge financial burden, as both Brett and his wife Kristy can no longer work.

Kristy is a person who is always there to help anyone in need, and now it’s time for us to get together to support her and her family. So we’re asking you all to help support them in spending this valuable time as a whole family and without the added financial stress.
