Through the monumental efforts of a few neighbors in Brentwood and Crestview, the Brentwood Park project is finally ABOUT TO BREAK GROUND!
In October of 2016, a small group of interested neighbors came together to start planning and fundraising for a renovation of Brentwood Park that would include safe paths for riding tricycles and bikes, play equipment for older children, and a renewal of the community-building space that we all love so much.
Since that time, successful fundraising and community-building events such as Oktoberfest, Violet Crown Festival, Violet Crown Car Show, yard sign sales, neighbor donations, and local business donations and sponsorships have raised $85,000 to date! A grant from Austin Parks Foundation provides an additional $50,000. City of Austin Parks and Rec. Department is providing another $120,000.
In order to fulfill the entirety of the Phase 1 vision, we need to raise $20,000 by January 1, 2020! Phase 1 currently includes a climbing net, a dodecahedron climbing structure, and a modern big-kid playscape. If we succeed in this final push for funding, Phase 1 will ALSO include the installation of additional bike paths, a custom berm, and a seating wall!
So let’s see if we can do this together! To get us started off right, an anonymous donor has offered to match $5,000 in donations, so share this link with friends and neighbors and donate today.See you at Brentwood Park in 2020!
