Brek was born February 26, 2020 to Chad and Brittany Menefee. Soon after he developed a rare childhood cancer called Hepatoblastoma that affects the liver. It is heartbreaking to see this little angle going through such tough times.
To best understand Brek’s medical situation/condition his story is told below by his mother...
I took Brek to the ER on Friday 5/15/2020. After many lab tests, xray, ultrasounds, CTs, MRIs, biopsies, central line placement, an echo, and days in the PICUs of UTMB and TCH... he was confirmed to have hepatoblastoma. Chad, myself, our families, and closest friends have gone through a roller coaster of emotions over the past week. We’ve cried (a lot), gotten angry, and ask “why him?” And we’ll never have that answer... so we’ve changed our perspective to a positive one! Brek is strong, he is so tough,
he’s got God on his side, and an angel brother looking over him. Thankfully with the. amazing healthcare teams that we’ve worked with for the past week; on 5/22/2020 (1 week to the day of that ER visit), he was administered his first chemo treatment and handled it like a champ! Although we have a long road ahead of us, we’re taking it a day at a time. We’re going to do this, Brek is going to fight this! #brekstrong"...........
My wife and I have known Chad and Brittany for only a year but we became close
friends immediately after meeting them. They are two of the finest people we have
ever met and they always jump at the opportunity to help others.
They are both first responders and public servants. Brek’s dad is currently attending the DPS academy in Austin and his mom is a Nurse Practitioner. Mom has exhausted all of her sick time.
This money will be specifically used to help the family pay for medical bills and
financial obligations e.g., home mortgage, car payments, groceries, etc.
It means everything to my wife and I for us to be there for Chad, Brittany and Brek
during these challenging times. ❤️
We will be beyond grateful for any help received for this awesome family in need. If
unable to financially contribute, please contribute by saying a prayer for Brek’s healing.
