Breathwork facilitators across the world are coming together in a synchronised global event called Breathe for Awá — a grassroots fundraiser to support the Indigenous Awá Tribe of Colombia.

The Awá are an Indigenous community who have safeguarded their ancestral lands, traditions, language, and way of life for generations. Their knowledge systems — rooted in deep connection to nature, oral traditions, ceremonies, and collective wisdom — are at risk of disappearing under the pressures of displacement, violence, and cultural erosion.

More than protectors of land, the Awá carry living knowledge about how to exist in harmony with nature, how to care for the earth, and how to sustain community resilience. Yet without support, their youth risk losing their language, their ceremonies, and their sense of identity, cutting them off from ancestral roots that have anchored them for centuries.

Breathe for the Awá seeks to raise funds for two key initiatives:

• Building a community centre — a vital gathering place where elders, women, and youth can come together to strengthen cultural bonds, pass on ancestral knowledge, hold ceremonies, and create mutual support in the face of growing challenges.

• Reforestation & land protection — restoring balance to the Amazon jungle through replanting native trees, safeguarding biodiversity, and protecting the lungs of our planet. Funds will also go towards purchasing land to ensure it remains in the care of the Awá, free from deforestation, mining, and exploitation. Protecting this land not only supports the survival of the Awá but also safeguards a part of the Amazon that is vital for the health of the entire Earth.

This is not just about helping; it’s about standing beside the Awá in solidarity. They are the wisdom keepers, and when their traditions disappear, we all lose something. This global breathwork event is our way of honouring their courage, resilience, and right to cultural survival — while also giving back to the Earth that sustains us all.
