Breast Pump for NICU Moms

Hi, everyone! Instead of birthday gifts for Victoria's 1st Birthday, we are raising funds to purchase and ship a hospital-grade breast pump for NICU Moms who stay at Jeneece Place (https://islandkidsfirst.com/jeneece-place/).

This fundraiser is dear to our hearts as a long-term stay in the NICU personally impacted us. Victoria was a micro preemie born at 25 weeks gestation (15 weeks early) and spent 83 days in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We were 4 hours away from home and, thankfully, could stay at Jeneece Place while receiving medical care. When Victoria was born, there was little to nothing that I could do to help her. The one thing I could do was to try and produce as much breastmilk as I could. The hospital provided spare pumping parts for families. However, they are not compatible with the current pump at Jeneece Place. By donating a new hospital-compatible pump, we can help families save money on renting or purchasing a new pump.

When a newborn is too small or ill to breastfeed at first, or if a birth condition prevents them from breastfeeding directly, a hospital-grade electric breast pump is an effective option to express milk and establish and maintain an adequate milk supply. Hospitals will provide moms with a pump while they are there. Families staying at Jeneece Place are far from home and often need immediate support until they can bring belongings from home or purchase new items.

The funds will be used to purchase and ship a hospital-grade Medela Symphony Breast Pump with a Trolley to Jeneece Place in Victoria, British Columbia.
