Break the Barrier

Hello, we are Sooa Kim and Sarah Park, and this GoFundme is to fund the project that we are initiating. "Break the Barrier" is a program from July 24th to August 2nd, 2023 that aims to sponsor one student from South Korea who is passionate about creating a bright future but is struggling to find their own path or is afraid to take the first step. The selected student from South Korea will be sponsored for a week-long trip to the United States, which includes airfare, accommodation, and meals(this is what the funding is used for).

The goal of this program is not just for the selected student to have a fun trip, but to show courage and the "American Dream" by providing a global education experience in the United States, which will enable the student to start their own journey in Korea. We have realized that in Korea, there is only one certain path that all students must follow to be labeled as successful. But in America, there are so many directions in which one can be considered successful. During the week-long trip, the student will meet diverse successful people with different life stories, allowing them to reflect on themselves. The meetings show the student that it it possible to have successful futures in non-traditional career paths for Koreans. After the trip, we want the student to reflect and see how it is possible to step out of their mental and physical comfort zone.

Therefore, this program needs funding in order to come to life and in order for the student to experience the "American Dream" to the best of her ability. We encourage you to donate, as anything would help this honest cause.
