Brazil and beyond - taking a team to tackle abuse
Hello!
For those of you who don't know (hi to those who do) I run Turtle Dove Cambridge and we have set ourselves the challenge of, as a team, fundraising £12,000 in order for a team of 7 to work with Charities in Brazil who support girls and young women who have been victims of abuse and trafficking. As a result they are being housed and supported by both Revive International and Happy Child International .
For them it is a lifetime of an opportunity (some have never been away and this would not be an option without our support). It also enables them to gain further valuable work experience through planning, hosting and reviewing the fundraising events.
They have asked us to deliver some of the following activities when we are there:
English lessons, workshops around self-esteem, healthy relationships and aspirations, activities that will introduce them to our work and culture and creative sessions such as making your own beauty products.
Also most importantly it connects us and them to the global issue of the need for equal rights for girls and young women.
According to the UN:
"One in three women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence — mostly by an intimate partner. Whether at home, on the streets or during war, violence against women is a global pandemic that takes place in public and private spaces. Together we can and must end this pandemic." click for more information here.
To date we have hosted a Brazilian dinner, a Brazilian chocolate tasting and knowledge evening, a pamper event, an 80s disco all alongside fundraising challenges and individuals supporting our venture.
Do join us at our events, take on your own challenges to support us or send in suggestions.. I am still to complete a 48 hour silence for a promised £100! For anyone that knows me... that is quite a challenge!
Thank you in advance and we look forward to sharing our adventures with you :)

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit TURTLE DOVE CAMBRIDGE COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about TURTLE DOVE CAMBRIDGE COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY: We work with young women who are between 15-23 years old and wanting to gain confidence in a work experience setting with youth support. The work experience consists of being a part of a team that offers event assistance across the city. From private parties to Charity fundraisers we assist with tasks such as guest registration, set up, serving food and drink and clear away. We also host events, usually tea parties, for older people. We are adding an overseas work experience opportunity too!
