Brave the Shave for Kaytlin – Standing Strong Together
Hi everyone,
We’re coming together to Brave the Shave in support of Kaytlin, an incredible 8-year-old who is currently fighting a rare and aggressive cancer.
At the start of this year, Kaytlin began experiencing severe pain in her legs, and within days, she lost the ability to walk. After being rushed to Royal Stoke A&E, doctors discovered a tumour in her spine. She was immediately transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where they performed emergency surgery to remove part of the tumour and some of her spinal bone. Unfortunately, the biopsy revealed a cancer so rare that even the doctors had never seen it before.
Kaytlin is now undergoing an intensive treatment plan of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which will continue over the next year or two. She’s already experienced hair loss after just two sessions of chemotherapy and remains too weak to begin physio. Her next round of treatment will be even stronger, pushing her little body through unimaginable challenges.
Throughout this incredibly difficult time, Kaytlin’s family—her parents and two brothers—are doing everything they can to support her while juggling daily life, hospital stays, and the emotional and financial strain that comes with a situation like this.
Why We’re Braving the Shave
To show our solidarity and support, a group of us are shaving our heads – because if Kaytlin has to go through this, we can stand beside her and raise awareness in the process. More importantly, we want to use this event to help ease the financial burden on her family so they can focus on what truly matters: being there for Kaytlin.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly to helping her family with travel costs, daily expenses, and anything else needed to support Kaytlin’s fight.
We would love your support—whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or simply spreading the word.
Let’s stand together and show Kaytlin that she’s not alone in this battle.
