Brain Tumor Surgery for Camden
Donation protected
My name is Rachael Holmes and my family is currently stationed in Virginia Beach, Va living in Moyock, NC.
On the evening of July 23rd, 2018, my nephew Camden Holmes (a 7 year old from Cumberland, Wisconsin) went to the emergency room with a headache and uncontrollable vomiting. A CT scan was performed and a massive tumor was found on the left side of Cam's brain.
On the 24th, Cam lost motor control on the right side of his body. He was put on an anti-seizure medicine (assuming that would be next) and airlifted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
On the 26th, an MRI discovered that, thankfully, the tumor had not reached his spine.
Assuming nothing gets worse, Cam's brain tumor surgery is scheduled for Monday, July 30th.
Currently, he is experiencing speech and behavioral issues due to the amount of steroids he is on to reduce the swelling, as well as the "fingers" of the tumor putting pressure on the areas of the brain that affect impulse control and his fine and gross motor skills.
Cam's family is still emotionally, physically, and financially recovering from his 34 year old Dad's (Paul) emergency open heart surgery due to an aortic aneurysm just weeks ago. The family exhausted all means by having to temporarily stay in Detroit through Paul's surgery and recovery.
We are asking for any help to relieve some of the financial burden placed on this family during this difficult time. Any and all donations will go directly to supporting the care and treatment of Camden. Your donations will be used to pay any bills his caregivers have incurred (medical and travel expenses).
