My name is Andrea Rule and I am the Captain for Brailsford Golf Course. Each year we nominate a charity and for me it was a clear choice. I am passionate about supporting local communities and was

always interested and humbled by the work carried out by Derby Mountain Rescue Team.

Derby Mountain Rescue Team is a voluntary emergency service who attend callouts in response to requests from the Police, Ambulance Service and other emergency services. They are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and consist of highly skilled unpaid volunteers.

Annual operational costs are around £65,000 and they do not receive direct Government support but are entirely dependent on donations.

Originally, it was set up in 1964 to search and rescue missing or injured walkers and climbers in the Peak District. Their role has since evolved over time and now includes searching for vulnerable people such as children or the elderly and those who have become despondent in rural and urban areas. They also search river banks, swift water and flooded urban streets.

over the years they have attended hundreds of call-outs and have saved many lives.
