Almost 4 months ago , we came to Atlanta for a routine MRI, which turned into emergency spinal surgery. Since then, we’ve had a few hiccups. He had an allergic reaction to ketamine, ENT injured his tongue, which is why his tongue will not go back in his mouth. Before all this, for nine years, his tongue had stayed in his mouth. He was intubated and on paralytics for a month due to the tongue injury just so he wouldn’t be injured further. After that, we were doing pretty good, and two days before we were supposed to transfer to rehab, the RT came in to do a cough assist. Her pressures were too high on the machine, and when she turned it on, she blew up his lungs, which resulted in him having pneumothorax on both sides. He had to have four chest tubes, three on the right and one on the left. Three weeks later, we are finally in rehabilitation and improving.
Thankfully, my amazing mom has been able to help us with the other three kiddos so I can still work part-time, but that part-time is only 2-3 days a week. With a commission-based income, that’s not a lot, and things have been stressful. The first few months, we were lucky enough to have a room at the Ronald McDonald House, but this last month, when we transferred to the other hospital, we have not had that opportunity. So, when I have come up here to Atlanta to do mandatory care training classes for all of Braidon’s new care, we’ve had to pay for a hotel, so things have gotten very expensive. And in this time that I have been staying at my mom's with the other kiddos, that’s extra on her power bill, her water bill, food, and things of that nature, and it’s a lot on everyone. But even through all this, Braidon keeps a smile on his face and he is doing remarkable and recovery but we still have a long road ahead I’m not expecting a lot out of this, but anything helps, and anything is appreciated, even prayer. Thank you all so much for your support, and God bless.
Edit- and for everyone asking yes we are looking into attorneys, but there are such thing as attorney fee fees and legal fees so this will also help with that as well
