Braelynn's Hope

Donation protected
This is Braelynn Bauer. She was born on July 16, 2019. She is currently at the Iowa University of Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

When Natalie was 20 weeks along, she went to her doctors appointment to find out the gender. They were happy to announce that she was having a girl, but there were complications. The doctor told Natalie that through the genetic testing, they suspected Braelynn to have Cystic Hygroma and Hydrops; which are big words for fluid filled pockets and extreme swelling, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS); affects the rich blood flow through the heart and Turner's Syndrome; being born with only one X chromosome. They explained that she had a 1% survival rate and that more than likely she wouldn't make it to delivery; but she did.

It has been a rollercoaster ride since her birth; good days and bad days. She had her first heart surgery at one week old and will have to have a couple more to come. She developed a bacterial infection after surgery that almost ended her life. The doctors told family that she more than likely wouldn't make it through the night. The doctors pushed any and all medications they could, family and friends prayed and Braelynn fought for her life. She pulled through. She is getting better with each day that passes, but she has a very long road ahead of her. Doctors have not yet said how long she'll have to be at the children's hospital, but we can imagine it'll be months.

Natalie and Rylan have been staying with Braelynn at the hospital since the day she was born. Their expenses are building up, not only are they trying to be there for their daughter but also pay for food, gas and all living expenses. In a few short weeks Natalie's maternity leave will end and she'll have to return to work and commute 3 hours each way to be with her daughter. She deserves to be with Braelynn for as long as she can. Braelynn needs both her parents!

This is where us as a community can help! I've had numerous people ask me what Natalie needs, what Braelynn needs, how they can help. All money donated will go to Natalie and Braelynn to help pay for medical bills, gas and food.

***Please, please, PLEASE help spread the word!***

Continue to pray! Braelynn has been such a strong fighter since day one and has proved doctors wrong more than once! She's got this!

We love you Braelynn! ❤️
