Help for Cambodia

May 2022 update <3

Since Covid restrictions began in April 2020 we have been helping approx 400 families in Siem Reap, Cambodia, facing a severe Covid-19 induced hunger crisis. These families are all associated with my dear friend Ana Margaridas Butterfly Schools, both in Siem Reap City and out in the surrounding countryside.

This campaign is for much needed rice this month. Tourists are beginning to come back in small numbers but it will take some time for things to be back to normal. Please note that "normal" in Cambodia is still way below first world poverty markers and that the hunger crisis is far from over.

I've just done a quick tally of the amazing contribution we, as a community, have been able to make to these families and communities over the past 25 months. My mind is reeling with the enormity of what a small group of caring people can achieve and my heart is full with the certainty that most humans are kind and want the best for others. Please, please, please if you are unable to contribute financially know that I understand that and your energy of compassion is also valuable in this big ‘ol connected Universe!

Together all of us have raised funds since April 2020 to help these families survive, and that has translated to more than 121,000 kg rice (!!) distributed by my wonderful friends and Butterfly School teachers, Piset Momk, Sun Seu and Nouy Kh who have all done the most amazing job of purchasing, repackaging and distributing the rice to those families who need it most each month.

On top of this several generous sponsors have helped us to build five new homes, install water pumps in remote villages for farm irrigation and drinking water complete major fixes on several other homes so families can sleep at night without being rained on, provided bicycles for 120 children in remote areas to enable kids to get to school, built several toilet blocks in villages with no sanitation and provided much needed educational supplies!

Thank you thank you thank you!

These families are once again without rice and I would love to send enough $$ this week for 200 x 50kg bags of rice to share one bag between two families. You can donate to purchase a 50kg bag for $35 or $70 for two bags.

If you'd like to help wth a bigger project there are many on the request list including the need for solar lighting ($650USD)for a new stretch of road the people in Seu's village have just built.

Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give and big love out to you all!
