My name is Columba Tierney, nurse and teacher, known in Bali as Ibu Lala. For the past 18 years I have been visiting Bali and have been involved in assisting with the education and upkeep of marginalised children and families.

Since 2023 I have supported and liaised with the Kerti Praja Foundation in Denpasar, a highly reputable medical institution involved in the promotion of safe sex practice and the treatment and support of STD patients, mainly AIDS.

To date there is little or no sex education in Indonesian public schools. Information usually comes from friends rather than parents. With the advent of online sex hook up apps, there is now an alarming increase in the number of Senior High School boys attending the foundation for testing. Currently 49% of infection is in the male 15 to 24 age group. With this in mind the foundation has set up a Senior High School boys sex education peer group, named ‘Boys Move’.

I am absolutely delighted to announce that last month the first five boys have been chosen and they attended a Public Speaking workshop with great zeal and enthusiasm. The aim is that one boy will tell 20 more and hopefully with further funding a team of at least 20 boys will be established and receive core training. I funded this pilot group but now I need your help in order for the program to run for one year.

All donations will go directly to the foundation and will cover the following costs;

A small monthly stipend of approximately $10 per month for each team member and adult coordinators’ fee.

Everything is organised and ready to roll but we just lack funding.
