Hi! My name is Ben Cagle and I am the owner here at Peak Performance Strength + Fitness. This year we will be hosting our first annual “Deadlift for Donuts” a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club here in Wasilla, Alaska.

Did you know Boys and Girls Club (who is a 501(c)(3) right here in Wasilla, serves over 150 kids daily and had over 450 kids registered last year! Lana Kosek, the new director at the Boys and Girls Club is looking to revamp and bring some much-needed additions to the club in the upcoming years. One of those key additions is providing the kids at outdoor playground! Yes, that’s right currently the club is without an outdoor playground. In a state and location where, outdoor time is so limited but provides so much for our mental and physical health, this playground is a much-needed addition.

So, who better to help than us! a local gym right down the road where our focus is to raise the standard and provide opportunities for all of us to invest in our physical health. And who to better do this for then our future generations.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 for the Boys and Girls Club so they can secure the funds needed to order the necessary equipment to start building an outdoor playground. And we are going to do this by “Deadlifting for Donuts!”.

Over the course of the next 6 weeks, 16 members of our gym are going to go through specific program to train them for this event. Then on Saturday, February 17th from 10am-noon, they are going to come in and see how much weight then can deadlift and celebrate with a celebratory donut from local bakery “Holy Moley Donuts”, just down the road on the Palmer Wasilla highway off the shores of Wasilla Lake.

How can you help? I am glad you asked! If you want to support one of our members in this event, you can donate in their name by submitting your donation through this GoFundMe link. Just mention whose name you are donating to for our record keeping. You can also make a general donation here, or you can come in on the day of the event, watch our members deadlift and donate at that time. Holey Moley donuts have been generous enough to donate some donuts that we will be available for purchase by donation as well.

Thank you for your time, and we hope that you can help us give back to our local community and our kids to give them a new opportunity to invest in their physical health!
