Boxing equipment for youth
Donation protected
I'm not a writer. I am not a pro fighter. I am a man who has a passion for the sport of boxing which is currently dying in Toronto.
The sport of boxing taught me discipline, it taught me to be humble and it taught me to respect my elders among a myriad of other life lessons.
The reason I write this request is because for the last six Summers I have worked with neighbourhood kids, teaching them the basics of boxing. Jabs, hooks, defense, footwork. It gets the kids away from their computers and game systems for an hour or two and in this city, our free Summer programs are going the way of the dodo bird.
The main thing that worries me about the kids and their sedentary nature, as somebody with Diabetes running rampant through my family, I know how important it is to maintain a modicum of fitness.
Most of the equipment in the past was donated or purchased from my own pocket. But lately the well has run dry, the equipment gets borrowed and not returned. It breaks down to the point where duct tape just won't fix a glove anymore and with a lack of equipment, there is a lack of turn out.
I am just asking for help whether it be with equipment or your pocket change.
Anything you'd like to donate would be appreciated.
