Lily’s Story:
Lily was born in Asia with HIV and was found with no one to take care of her. She was placed into foster care at the age of 2, and she has been living with a family for the last 4 years. While living with this family, Lily has been able to receive the necessary medications and care she needs that she was not receiving before. Lily is able to enjoy a normal life because she’s had a family to love and care for her. Lily’s family is currently in the process of adopting her to make her a part of their family forever.

The Lily Project:
We want to help children like Lily. In Asia, many orphanages will not accept HIV+ children. Children and adults living with HIV have a hard time obtaining an education and a job. These people are considered outcasts. “Lily” in Mandarin is 百合花. A literal translation is “pure and spotless person.” We could not think of a more perfect name for this project.

Our mission at The Lily Project is to actively spearhead the offensive against HIV/AIDS through focused research, care, and education. We plan to research locally, throughout Asia, and the world. Care will be provided through a foster home for orphans with HIV/AIDS, counseling for families with a loved one with HIV/AIDS, and assisting with medical needs of these orphans and families. We will educate the community, provide staff training at the foster home, and provide school for the children living in the foster home.

Over the next year our short term goals are:
1) finish registering as a non-profit organization
2) remodel The Lily Project foster home
3) use our partnerships with orphanages/local agencies to find children in need of a foster home
4) use our partnership with local medical professionals to provide treatment to the children and to continue our research on HIV/AIDS.

We believe that each child was created for a purpose and we want to see children reach their full potential. We want to transform the way society views HIV/AIDS one community at a time. We would love for you to partner with us as we start our adventure.
