Boulder Builds With Standing Rock

The Boulder Colorado community has sent many of us to Oceti Sakowin, and are prepared to be with the Sioux Nation for the long haul. We have designed a Warm Yurt in the tradition of the Seven Values of the Sioux Nation and with the Four Directions calling. These small (ten foot diameter) yurts will be pre-built using conventional (and environmentally sustainable) materials and methods here in the Denver/Boulder area this winter for final assembly by two or three people quickly in the harsh spring weather of North Dakota. We have the support of the Healer and Medic Council, as well as the blessing of a Boulder Ojibwe priest. If our campaign is somehow not successful or the funds raised need to go to other priorities, all of the funding raised here will go to the official Oceti Sakowin tribe. Funding will be used for building materials. We'll depend on the giving, loving hands of volunteers to build the yurts. We also hope that those yurts that aren't needed at Standing Rock can be utilized here in Boulder to transitionally house our homeless neighbors in eco-villages being planned here in Boulder, that will likely include some of our Native American neighbors.
