
Brother's Keeper- A Homeless Shelter for Men

The Indian Medical Association is raising funds to provide a heating and cooling system for the only homeless shelter for men in Northwest Indiana. Currently, there is no heating or cooling present at the shelter.
Brother’s Keeper is a shelter for homeless men located in Gary, Indiana focused on helping men regain their standing. On top of being a shelter, there is also a food pantry open to the community four days a week.
Brother’s Keeper, Inc. opened on March 16, 1986, at the present location. The shelter is a not-for-profit organization 501(c)3 and can accommodate 36 men. The clients are homeless men with an array of problems. Clients are referred to Brothers’ Keeper by an array of hospitals, local and state law enforcement, township trustee offices, and loved ones and friends.
