Hello, my name is Gracie, I’m 15 years old, and I’m raising £5,000 to travel to Borneo with Camps International to support communities living in poverty.

Over the next 15 months, I’ll be working hard to raise this money through fundraising events, challenges, and community activities. This isn’t just a trip for me — it’s an opportunity to make a real and lasting difference.

What does this mean to me?

In parts of Borneo, many families face daily challenges that most of us can’t imagine. Some communities struggle with poverty, limited access to education, unsafe housing, and a lack of clean water. Many children grow up without proper school facilities or the basic resources they need to thrive.

I believe every child deserves the chance to feel safe, receive a good education, and have hope for their future. That belief is what’s driving me to take on this challenge.

What I’ll Be Doing in Borneo

Through Camps International, I’ll be taking part in community-led projects focused on creating long-term, sustainable change.

These projects include:

- Helping to improve and build school facilities

- Supporting educational and community development programs

- Assisting with housing and infrastructure projects

- Taking part in environmental conservation work to protect rainforests

This isn’t about short-term aid. It’s about working alongside local communities to support projects that create lasting impact and empower people for the future.

I know I’m only 15, and this is a big goal. But I truly believe age doesn’t define the difference you can make. If anything, being young motivates me even more to step outside my comfort zone and take responsibility for being part of a global community.

I’m not just asking for donations — I’m committed to earning as much as I can through sponsored events, challenges, and local fundraisers. I’ll be pushing myself physically and mentally to reach this goal.

This experience will help me grow in independence, resilience, teamwork, and cultural understanding. It will challenge me, teach me, and shape the way I see the world for the rest of my life.
