Border detention ctr child advocacy

Help send a team of Spanish-speaking mama lawyers, doctors, and activists to the Texas border for a week to support families and children being separated by our government's current policies.  The organizers of this campaign are lawyers, mothers, immigration specialists, and Spanish speakers who are organizing a group of professionals to visit the Dilley facility to provide assistance to detainees. Funds raised will send volunteers to the facility in southern Texas, and will pay for volunteers' lodging, food and transportation. We are working with the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the CARA Pro Bono Project at the detention facility in Dilley, Texas--further info at: http://www.aila.org/practice/pro-bono/find-your-opportunity/cara-family-detention-pro-bono-project   If the funds we collect are more than our team needs to get to TX, we will work with CARA and AILA to help fund additional on-the-ground resources. 

Because the situation on the ground is changing quickly, we will work with AILA, CARA, and connections we cultivate on the ground to use funds whenever possible to purchase anything needed to provide additional support for children at the facility. We will update donors as soon as we hear of any specific in-kind supplies we will purchase.

Funds will be withdrawn by the primary organizer (Kristin Clarens) and distributed to the members of the team to cover their travel expenses. Funds will also be withdrawn by the primary organizer to support legal organizations providing on-the-ground help to immigrant children affected by detentions, as we determine appropriate during our trip. Kristin will deliver the first withdrawal of funds to reimburse the travel team as soon as possible and the team will make decisions about subsequent withdrawals in the coming week and provide an update as we learn more on site.
