Boot Drive for SEIU 503 Agriculture Sublocal
Donation protected
Agriculture workers need boots to safely do their job. Despite this clear and ongoing need, ODA management won't provide boots for field workers. During Labor Management Committee Meetings, management repeatedly denied the need for boots. "Nobody at ODA needs boots to do their job", "Boots are like pants - ODA doesn't buy pants", and "We're not buying you walking shoes". During bargaining, management claimed "ODA employees work in clean barns, they don't need boots". We know the truth, that ODA staff work in rugged terrain, in fields, and in not-so-clean barns.
Workers have the right to a safe workplace. This includes protective equipment to safely do their job, including boots. Union leadership have been fighting for safer job sites. In 2022, you made your voice heard by signing a petition to management, saying you needed boots. We continue to bring up boots at every opportunity. Management continues to ignored members concerns. We're fundraising to provide ODA employed members the safety gear management won't.
Members are forced to choose between safety and their hard earned pay. Many field staff cannot afford to buy durable safety boots every field season. Your donation will help pay for boots for those who can't afford them.
Management can drag their feet, we will protect yours.
100% of the donations will be used to purchase boots, or other personal protective equipment for union members who are denied by management.
