For the last year there have been many attempts to ban books in Anchorage and throughout Alaska. There are several attempts that are still in process of removing books. Librarians and library supporters believe that this takes away freedom to read, choose, and investigate for the youth these books are written for. Brooklyn and Seattle Public Library have created an initiative called "Books Unbanned" that makes eBooks available for free to all youth ages 13-26.

With the money I am raising I would like to run an advertisement in the Anchorage Daily News and through their digital advertising. It is the most read newspaper in Alaska with a circulation of approximately 71,000 on Sundays and more online. The amount I am raising is for a half page Sunday ad and a week of digital advertising. If I raise more I will use it to advertise "Books Unbanned" additionally.
