Good Trouble for Kids: Racially Conscious Reading
Story Remedy and subvert have joined forces on this fundraiser to support art & activism. We believe that introducing children to books on social justice, diversity, inclusion, & antiracism is fundamental to insuring that this next generation will rise up and resist.
We have compiled an initial list (culled together from many other lists!) of books that we would like to get out to children. We update the list regularly, and are very open to recommendations. Books have been donated to Black Lives Matter 5280's Freedom School, and to parents and educators across the US.
Since October 2020, we have been offering our monthly subscription service, and continued donations allow us to help subsidize the service for families who cannot afford full cost, as well as cover operating costs (shipping is $$$!). We support Black-owned bookstores with all our book purchases. As much as we can, we do not want finances be a barrier to accessing education and materials in the fight for racial and social justice.
Please visit our website for additional information about subscribing, or gifting a subscription. You can also see samples of our creative Xtra Good Trouble supplemental materials that accompany each of the books. These frame the literature from a cultural, literary and artistic perspective.
