Bonny Staff community support fundraiser

Hello local community, friends and family! Joshua Crawford here, your friendly neighbourhood Bonny Bar Manager. As those of you close to us will know, Bonny is a bar we started on Brunswick St, Fitzroy a couple of months ago. There's no predicting these things but hot dang, it turned out not to be the best time to start a new small independent business. Given the fact that we are owned by a small group of legends and not attached to any big groups, and of course this covid-19 crisis we are all going through. My staff and I have lost our jobs for the foreseeable future. What we started at Bonny and what we hope to continue when/if these impossibly hard times blow over, is a bar that is as focused on the community around it as it is on producing delicious food and drinks in a neighbourhood bar full of smiling faces and sharing positive ideas. Supporting local artists and community projects and all the while being as sustainable and friendly to mother earth. We feel like the karma around our ideals and place is a beautiful thing. So in this go Fund me page we are asking for just a small amount to be shared in the form of monetary assistance so we can survive and come back to doing what we love to do and are truly passionate about.  We only have 3 staff, myself included, so we are not asking for much. Just enough for us to push on through. The main reason why we are looking to our community for support is because all 3 of us are immigrants from foreign shores and are having a bit of difficulty getting any support from old scomo and his mates in the big house.  Hannah is the beautiful, quirky, smiley faced kiwi lass that you would have been greeted by with bouncing enthusiasm and a love for making you smile in return with delicious treats and the ability to wax lyrical about all things good in the saving the world business. Hannah has only been here for a few years so we are waiting to hear but as it stands could not be eligible for centrelink. Saggy is the tall dark and handsome Nepalese drink of water you will have seen standing head and shoulders over the rest of us. Saggy is the consummate host and one of the most genuine cats you will ever meet. Saggy, despite being married to a wonderful Australian lady is completely ineligible for government support being he is from Nepal. I am just the guy trying to look out for the staff that I love and respect so much and want to help us all survive and be able to come back and continue this project together, not just for us but for all of you, our community, our neighbourhood, our artists and for all of our guests. I also am from New Zealand, I have been here for a while though so I may be eligible for centrelink but it's still up in the air atm. So at the end of the day, we know it's hard times for all of us out there right now. But if you feel like you can spare any amount of money depending on your situation, you would be giving to a cause that would land you a very special place in our hearts and I will keep track of everyone who shows us love, even if it's only one or two dollars, and you will all be listed in our bar Bonny as a very special group of very important people who helped us when we needed it the most. We will do the same in kind when you can eventually come back through our doors for us to look after you. I hope every one is staying safe and healthy and we wish you all the best for you and yours.  Peace and love,  Team Bonny
