Boney Adoption

Evan and I have been talking about adoption since we started dating. That's been nearly 10 years ago at this point. We both felt strongly about giving a home, love, and family to a little one in need and see it as a beautiful way to build our family as well as a way to honor God's love in providing for us and bringing us into His family!

Our adoption plan has evolved over time. When we first started talking about it, we both pictured international adoption and traveling oversees to bring our son or daughter home. However, we have been blessed to have many friends involved in foster care and I have gotten to meet many of these special kids through my work as well. It really opened our eyes to the need here in our own country. Then, we experienced the loss of miscarriage. I think very few things can give you a heart for loving the babies around you and wanting to open your heart and home to the many children in need quite like such a loss can. After all, our baby was alive, our baby mattered, and what a tragedy to never get to meet that tiny gift. I began to feel God tug at my heart and changing my focus from that point on.

Two boys later, and after our youngest came home, I began researching adoption agencies. I was looking for international adoption agencies. But time and time again, I came across messages on agencies' pages asking for families for their domestic program. And then I began to research domestic adoption. And then I looked at the foster care site of waiting children. And suddenly, children needing homes in the States had names and faces. And the door to international adoption shut quietly for me.

Due to the age of our two boys, we decided an infant adoption would fit our family best at this time- for a variety of reasons I could write a novel about. And so we began the process. We were home study official October 11th. On October 24th, we were sent a situation with a birth mother due at the end of November. It was very sudden, and not the type of situation we expected but as we went into this wanting to step boldly where we were lead, we followed up. After a few days, we thought the birth mother had decided to go another direction. It hurt more than I expected but I wanted her to find the best fit for the child she was carrying. So I continued to pray for her situation and allowed my heart to move on. But today, at noon, I got a call back. The birth mother called the caseworker and picked us!! And not only did she pick us but she went into labor!!

Our baby boy was born November the 5th, early in the morning. By all accounts I have received, healthy and perfect. And now we are racing, racing to get across the country to get him. With two kiddos in tow to meet the newest edition to our family. We have saved and planned for this moment for a long, long time. But now it is here!!

I am asking dear friends, you to consider supporting us financially in this endeavor. We have planned and saved diligently for this moment. But as this has unfolded so quickly, all of the cost will essentially be due in its entirety upfront. Before, I might add, we have even begun to organize fundraisers or apply to grants.  Thank you so much for investing in us and our growing family!
