In June 2026, a group of volunteers from Bond will embark on an unforgettable caregiving journey to Lake Petén Itzá, Guatemala, partnering with Globe Aware to work alongside local communities in the village of El Remate.
Nestled in the lush rainforest of Guatemala’s northern lowlands, El Remate is home to families rich in Mayan heritage but facing significant challenges due to poverty and limited resources. Many households here live in shelters with dirt floors, which contribute to health risks such as harmful parasites and respiratory issues. Educational opportunities are scarce as most children do not attend school beyond sixth grade, and access to basic healthcare is limited.
Our Mission:
We are traveling to Guatemala to build cement floors in family homes, work with the local women’s group to create sustainable gardens, assist teachers and students at the community library, and support ongoing projects like jungle conservation and healthcare distribution. Together, we aim to improve living conditions, promote education, and provide tools for a healthier, more sustainable future.
