Bogert pool was built in 1939, last remodeled in 1974 and could use some Bozeman community support.
We have formed a group, "Bogert Pool Friends." I have met with Cindy Andrus on the city commission and the aquatic director. The next time the city will discuss the pool is in 2018. The aquatic budget is responsible for cleaning, opening, filling, painting and maintenence of the pool and walls. This, in addition to locker room maintenance is done by the life guards while they do their training. The budget is very limited.
I moved to Bozeman in 1978. I've swam there every year since then. My children took swimming lessons from the same swim teachers as my grandchildren now have. I care deeply about the condition and location of the pool Many swimmers and families and I feel we need a maintained city pool.
You too, can help and join the efforts to fund the aquatic budget to "fix up the pool"!
Facts: -There have been 1,920 children participating in swimming at Bogert pool, this summer, with long wating lists. -The leaks of the pool are fixed -Pool heater and filtration are new -Deck chairs have been painted -Shower heads are new -Lifeguards are teachers and mainenence crew -The pool now owns a power washer -Lifeguard chairs have been replaced
Repairs Needed: -Pool resurfacing -Addressing the gutters -locker room update -Exterior walls need sand blasting and painting -Showers and drinking fountains need work -Front steps and front entry need to improve presentation -Lifeguard area needs updates -Weeds need control -General beautifcation
"While the city has talked in the past about replacing the pool entirely or building a splash park, which could require a voter-approved bond measure for funding, city commissioners have said recently that they consider a major aquatic project less pressing than a new justice center facility to relieve crowding faced by the Bozeman Police Department." (Bozeman Daily Chronicle 06/15)
This is why I have created this GO FUND ME for FREINDS OF BOGERT POOL. To help fund repairs that are needed but the city cannot address. Please help me in this effort by donating your funds, time and/or talent!
Consider your business sponsoring this worthy community enrichment.
After funds are gathered, we hope to start work on the pool upon it's closing this summer.
