Bodmin Community First Responder Car
Who are we?
The Bodmin Community First Responders are team of 11 volunteers who are trained to respond 999 medical emergencies in Bodmin.
Where do we respond?
Our team is based in Bodmin, for Bodmin. However, in the last year, our volunteers have also responded in times of patient need to 999 calls in Lanivet, Wadebridge, Par, St Austell, Fowey, Padstow and Tregony.
In 2020, The Bodmin Community Responders:
- Volunteered 2219 hours of unpaid medical cover
- Attended 188 emergency 999 calls
- Calls included Cardiac Arrests, COVID-19, Sepsis, Chest Pain, Breathlessness, Abdominal Pain, Falls, Diabetic Emergencies, Strokes, Seizures and Fractures.
How is the scheme funded?
The volunteers receive no pay for the role, and currently use their own vehicles as well as giving up their spare time to provide rapid emergency medical assessment and treatment ahead of the arrival of a paramedic ambulance. The volunteers receive no reimbursement or expenses for fuel, mileage or vehicle wear & tear.
Why are you fundraising?
We would like to be able to purchase and maintain a dedicated first responder vehicle for the Bodmin Responder Group and ask kindly for the help and support of our local community.
