Bob's Truck

Donation protected

If you've lived in Jamaica Plain for any length of time, you've probably seen Bob Petersen up on a ladder fixing someone's roof or gutters, or hood up on the street jumping someone's car battery, or being pulled down the sidewalk by one or more of the countless neighborhood dogs who love him and he helps take care of -- our Cranston Street neighbor and a beloved fixture in Hyde Square.  A gifted carpenter, handyman, jack-of-all-trades, and conversationalist.  A Marine and Vietnam veteran, often spotted getting his coffee at El Oriental and reading the New York Times at the Library.  A true Jamaica Plain institution.

This week, Bob's old white truck gave up the ghost.  It can't be fixed and he can't afford a new one.  He can't work without a truck.  We're arranging a loaner right now, but that's only a temporary solution.

Bob is always there to help anyone in need and he never asks for anything for himself.  He's not asking now.  We are, his neighbors and friends who have gotten to know him over the years.   Please pitch in what you can for our friend and help us get the word out to folks who know that Jamaica Plain is what it is because of people like Bob,  and because of this Bob.

Let's help Bob get a new truck.
