Many from the Berkeley community have reached out to us asking how our restaurant is handling the lockdown. Truth be told, our business is down over 70% and we've had to lay off the majority of our staff. Those who remain are getting minimal hours per week. Most of our staff, and employees of this industry in general, live paycheck to paycheck. We've encouraged those employees we've laid off to seek unemployment and are trying to get creative in ways to keep sales coming in to pay our remaining staff. We are providing contactless takeout and delivery as well as selling draft beer to go, half-baked pizzas which can be finished in your home oven, gift cards, etc.
Then the other night we got a call from a Berkeley family who placed an order for six large pizzas to be delivered to Alta Bates ICU and ER Departments. They wanted to provide a morale boost for the medical professionals working overtime to care for the sick during this pandemic, as well as support a local business during mandated closures.
It got us thinking of how to get others involved to do something similar.
We decided one way our Bobby G's community can help us AND the community is by donating to a "feed the medical crew" fund. 100% of donations will go towards food cost and employee pay associated with preparing meals which will be donated to East Bay hospitals. It's a double bang for your buck!
For every $200 raised, we will deliver food to feed 25 medical professionals (including nurses, security guards, janitorial crew, administrative staff):
5 Large Pizzas
2 Large Salad Platters
4 Orders of Garlic Bread
We will be focusing on East Bay hospitals.
If you are able to donate, your money will go a long way. Our pricing comes out to about $8 per meal so a donation of even $20 will feed a few people (AND keep people employed).
Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates on donations.
Nothing but love,
Bobby G's Family
