Bob's Foodshelf Project

Tax deductible
So many people are out of work due to the pandemic that we decided to devote some of our farmland to raising food for food banks. With help from Dana Jokela of Sogn Valley Farm  we planted sweetcorn and squash. Please help us pay Dana for tilling, planting and cultivating - tractors and fuel are expensive and his expertise has been essential.  The good folks at the Land Stewardship Project  have agreed to handle the money so your contribution is tax-deductible.

As of mid-September 10 corn harvests have generated donations to 5 food banks: Pillsbury United , Joyce Uptown , Camden Promise  and Serenity  food banks in Minneapolis and  Channel One Regional Food Bank  in Rochester.  Thousands of pounds of winter squash have been harvested and are on their way to families in need in the metro area and across southern Minnesota.

One additional note: the storm that hammered our corn  brought hail that destroyed some of Dana's key cash crops - at the very worst time possible. He figures that one storm destroyed $100,000 worth of crops. Your contribution here will help him through this extra-challenging season. We need more farmers like Dana. Please help.

Thanks,
Bob & Julie
