100% of this fund will be dedicated to the cost of the warm blankets and toys for the children of Gaza. Any other costs for collecting and distributing the blankets and toys, and anything related to the birthday party and candles will be covered by Naya's parents.

Our daughter Naya is turning 1 this year. It's her first birthday. We wanted to make it special by not only blowing a candle for Naya, but for other less fortunate kids out there. To teach Naya to think about herself and others, on her birthday. Because my husband and I both have family in Gaza, we started to think of the challenges children face in the war torn region. With Gaza's electricity crises and a rolling blackout schedule, Gazans have a few hours of electricity a day. According to a survey by Save the Children, at least 68 percent of children say they have difficulties sleeping, and 78 percent consider the single biggest source of fear for them was the sound of warplanes. After discussing the condition of the region with family back home, with the cold Winter days approaching, many families with children are in need of warm blankets. Many children also do not have toys to play to take their minds off the warplanes. We collected a list of names of family members with children that are in need of warm blankets and toys and decided to dedicate Naya's birthday to the children of Gaza. We wanted to buy the children warm blankets and toys, and decided that instead of gifts for Naya, people should donate to the children of Gaza that need it most. On Naya's birthday we will blow a candle for Naya and the children of Gaza back home, while also dedicating this fund to buy the warm blankets and fun toys for the kids to enjoy. All proceeds collected will be distributed to the children before Naya's birthday, and all the names of the children that received toys and a blanket will be recorded. On Naya's birthday, we will blow a candle for every child in Gaza that received a gift. We hope through this tradition, to teach Naya, that her birthday can be a means for her to have fun and help others in need as well.
