I’m running the Great South Run this October and raising money for Blind Veterans UK — a charity that has become very close to my heart.
I’d be so grateful if you could support me by donating whatever you can. Every little bit truly helps.
This is why this run means so much to me…
Last year, my mum’s world changed in a way none of us could have imagined. She was diagnosed with Giant Cell Arteritis, and within just four days of being admitted to hospital, she lost her sight completely. Her vision hasn’t returned, and she now lives in total darkness. She is registered blind, and life has had to change in so many ways.
But if you know my mum, you’ll know that she is the definition of strength. Even in the face of something so devastating, she continues to face life with hope and unwavering faith. She refuses to give up and continues to inspire everyone around her.
My mum served in the RAF, and Blind Veterans UK has been an incredible source of support since her diagnosis. They’ve helped her begin to rebuild her life, regain some independence, and most importantly, reminded her that she’s not alone.
She asked me if I would run the Great South Run on behalf of Blind Veterans UK — and I couldn’t be prouder to do so. This 10-mile challenge is for her, and for every veteran who’s facing the life-changing reality of sight loss.
Please, if you’re able, sponsor me. Your support will go directly to helping more veterans like my mum receive the help, hope, and independence they deserve.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this — and thank you for any support you can give.
