Hi! My name is Alex Vega. I'm the nephew of the family that has been affected.
Through God's grace, their son who has been away with the Air Force, was able to return home for the holidays. The cheer was short lived, as they were immediately woken up by a fire that englufed the side of their house on Christmas Day.
Fortunately for them, nobody was hurt and everyone was out of the house safe. Unfortunately, the fire really caused the daughter to lose a lot of her stuff. Including clothing articles such as shoes etc etc. The familys stuff was affected by the smoke as well as there being a huge hole in their house. Their house is in an unlivable state. There is structural damage to the home.
My cousin's(air force) stuff was already ruined by a storm that recently hit months prior, with there still being water damage to a lot of his items.
This means much to me because of the amount of time that they've personally put into me as a human being. With me being 20 years old, I can remember a lot of the stuff that they've done for me. Whether it was watching me while my family was out to work during the week because I was homeschooled, or taking me out after church when they didn't need to. They always tried to include me in things, always saw through the troublesome child that I was. Being the age I am, I can thank them for helping me be the person that I am today. I haven't been able to give back, but hopefully I can give back now.
The money given will be presented to them hopefully before I go back to college. The money will be used to place the family in a temp place of living, as well as replace any of the items they've lost, specifically the daughters. The rest will be given to my grandfather who actually owns the house, in order to help him pay for any of the repairs that need to be done to the hous.
I appreciate everyone and anyone who is reading. God bless.
