We are raising support for the More Than Food Foundation, which serves Franklin County, Kansas. This project came about due to the Harvesters food budget being significantly cut in rural area schools in 2025/2026, leaving a gap & many children facing food insecurity. Our project aims to fill that gap, one weekly Blessing Bag at a time. When students have a longer break coming up, Blessing Bags include additional meals and snacks to help alleviate the struggle for many students. This project is anonymous to the nonprofit. We rely on the schools to advise us on the number of needs but not specific information about each student, unless there is an allergy we are to be aware of.
Your support will assist us in expanding in
the reach of the project. We have been providing weekly bags for students in elementary school but we also know the need is great beyond K-5. Blessing Bags currently cost between $4-4.50/bag. At this time, we pack a minimum of 100 bags a week, totaling $400-$450/week but there is a need for 500+ bags a week.
In each bag, we include a positive note that brings encouragement and affirmations to each child that receives the Blessing Bag. As our name states, this is more than food. Children are our future and they deserve to be protected and treasured. Sharing words of empowerment and positivity on these often handwritten notes, reminds them that they are seen and cared for.
Additionally, we are looking to purchase a modest vehicle to pick up bulk food supply orders, transport supplies to and from packing sites with our community partners and the best part, deliver Blessing Bags to schools each week. Our goal is to raise $5k to $10k to be able to purchase a vehicle outright. Reliability and functionality is what we are seeking. Flashy and modern, with all the gadgets is not on the wish list for a vehicle.
As we await approval from the government for the 501(c)3 status, we rely solely on the generosity of the community for monetary and food donations. Our promise is that we will be good stewards of all resources, so generously provided. One day at a time, support is growing and the reach we can offer follows that trend of continual support.
Would you consider partnering with us as we work to meet the needs of children in our rural community?
