A couple of days ago, I recorded a short video of a man I’ve seen many times in my community. He was sitting at a table outside a restaurant, praying over the sandwich he had just bought. Something about that moment — his gratitude, his humility — really moved me.

I see him almost every day. He is an immigrant who waits patiently for work while also living with the fear of being targeted by ICE. Despite the uncertainty he faces, he always greets the world with a smile. He carries such a positive, peaceful aura, even though I know he struggles to make ends meet, especially now when work for immigrants has become so scarce.

I shared the video online, and it unexpectedly went viral. So many people reached out wanting to help him, which is why I’m starting this GoFundMe.
