Bless Millie On Her Road To Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Monica Russell along with my brother Nick and sister Brianna- we truly appreciate you taking a moment to read about our mom Millie‘s story. She’s not just our mom but a Mimi, a sister, an aunt, a friend to so many. Now dubbed with the title of bravest woman we know.
This past Monday morning at 2am, we were blindsided with the news that our mother has a hemorraging brain tumor.
Backtrack to Saturday where she was having numbness in her legs, and pronator drifting in her left arm. Basically, pre-stroke like symptoms that brought her to call the paramedics finally on Sunday.
This all came on so suddenly as my mom is a strong, independent woman, who you can catch her most days in a dress and heels.
It was difficult to witness such a drastic decline in her so abruptly.
With further testing that Monday, we got the news that there were also suspicious spots near the lungs and enlarged lymph nodes around the lung area. The main concern was the tumor.
We were then told the hopeful news the brain tumor was operable.
The surgeon was very optimistic about being able to remove it and clear up the bleeding. After agreeing to that course of action, surgery was set for the next afternoon.
Brain surgery day came.
This had to be the most emotionally draining day of our lives.
However, our mom Millie handled it all with such strength and dignity. With God in her, she had no fear.
Around 5:30pm with knots in our stomach, the surgeon walked up to us and told us the most comforting news as we could have wanted to hear. The surgery was very successful and mom was in the recovery room doing well.
Every step of the way, we’ve seen the kindness and goodness of our God. He’s given us peace when we felt overwhelmed and He’s given us strength when we felt weak. All the prayers have been felt and God’s presence has surrounded us.
Praise God for the success of the brain surgery. Her left hand and leg weakness is basically gone. She’s doing great cognitively. The surgeon is so surprised and pleased. ALL glory to God!
Unfortunately this is not where this journey ends.
Pathology confirms that the tumor is cancerous. The fact that it has a different place of origin and had spread to her brain, it is automatically considered stage 4.
We are SO hopeful for the future.
As we await more testing to be done and revealed…
we come to you all reading this.
It’s not to ask for money to help pay hospital bills. We’re not worried. God has and will provide.
We want to continue to pour out the love and generosity that our God shows us all daily!
Our Mom loves to give. She loves spending time with her family, cooking for others, and making everyone around her laugh. She is such a hard worker so I know even being out of work has been hard.
She also helps take care of her disabled brother who lives with her, because he cannot live independently. She has had a hard time “leaving” him during this time.
Will you help bless her in this next chapter of her life?
Any little bit will be a reminder of the love of Jesus that surrounds her. So that as she leaves the hospital and navigates the “what’s next” she can be encouraged by all of the generosity.
We would love to see her blown away again and again by the love of God.
Any amount is greatly appreciated. If you’re not able to contribute, will you share with your friends and family?
Please continue to keep her and all of us in
your prayers. The prayers have meant everything to us!
Love,
Monica, Nick, and Bri
