Blankets for the Homeless in Springfield
Donation protected
Hello! Several years ago, after the passing of my Uncle Russell, I began volunteering at Eden Village. Eden Village is a tiny home community that offers permanent housing to people that are chronically homeless. My uncle was blessed to have the opportunity to live there for several years. Last year, I thought about where he lived before Eden Village when the extreme winter temperatures hit. I wondered who was struggling to stay warm last winter, and that inspired me to raise money to make hand-tied fleece blankets to distribute to members of the homeless community in Springfield. Last year was my first year doing this project and it did so much better than I could have imagined. With the help of friends and family, I was able to create over 50 warm and handmade blankets to distribute during the coldest time of year. I am hopeful I can do the same this year. I am trying to start this project earlier this year, to have more time to raise money and create the blankets, as well as create more and help a larger number of people. This is something I am truly so passionate about and I would be so incredibly grateful for any donations! Each blanket uses about 4 yards of fleece, costing about $7.99 per yard. Each blanket will have a handwritten card attached as well!
Feel free to contact me if you are interested in helping make blankets or for more information about this project or Eden Village! Thank you in advance!
