Blanket Towel project
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Chloe! My family and I have donated over 2,000 blanket towels to the children in Boston hospitals including Tufts Floating Hospital for Children and Mass General’s pediatric cancer center. I was a patient at Tufts from age 4 till 12. Wanting to give back, at age six I came up with the idea with my Grandma and it took off from there. With the help of my kindergarten teacher, we have made over 2,000 blanket towels ourselves that have been donated. Let me explain what exactly a blanket towel is. Being in an out of the hospital as a kid, I wanted something that was mine, and not the standard white hospital blanket. A blanket towel is made from 1 yard of a fun pattern of fleece and a regular size bath towel with a coordinated color. The cool part is, the water from the towel does not leak through to the fleece, making it the best for kids in the hospital, especially after a shower so they can warm up fast. I recently had brain surgery at Mass General, where I saw not many kids had a blanket of their own. Wanting to help a new population of sick kids, my mom and I decided to switch our donation over to the pediatric cancer center. The kids are amazed by seeing their favorite animal or characters on a blanket towel they can call theirs. The smile on the kids faces is the most rewarding part of it all. This round of donations, I am partnering with my good friend for a special project. We are hoping to donate over 150 blanket towels think time around! Thank you for taking time to read this and helping out!
