Hello! I am raising this money on behalf of my friend. She has asked to remain anonymous so not to be discovered by her abuser. Here are her situation and needs:
My friend is a Black single mom of 6. A little over a year ago, she lost everything fleeing from domestic violence and death threats both against her and her children by their father.
My friend is chronically disabled and has had to undergo four different ankle surgeries over this past year for injuries sustained from the abuse. Due to disability, poverty and having to intently care for her youngest child, a baby with a developmental disability, she cannot work at this time.
My friend has been shuffled through the shelter system, and unfortunately encountered yet another abusive man in one that she stayed in who has attacked her, threatened her and stalked her. Just last month, she was finally able to secure her own apartment, but has insufficient heating, no furniture and still cannot consistently meet her most basic needs.
She does not qualify for SSI and has also not received a single stimulus check for the entirety of this pandemic. For too long, she has been begging the government, her own family and strangers for some support, only to be turned down or given crumbs that would not last nearly long enough to truly change the circumstances of her life.
I have supported her as much as I could in this past year and made posts online asking that people donate to her CashApp, but my funds are low and donations have stopped coming in despite all the likes and shares. This is not sustainable.
This is why I have set the goal for this fundraiser so high at 10k, because my friend has not been suffering short term and her recovery period will not be short either. She needs a lot of support to get to a stable place.
My friend needs STABILITY and CARE. She needs the means to be able to care for herself and her children, holistically. She needs funds to cover her recurring medical/care costs for her and her youngest, and medicine to cope with her chronic pain. She needs basic needs met: consistent food and groceries, diapers and milk, school supplies for her children, clothing and laundry costs, BEDS to sleep in, phone service, cleaning supplies for the home, products to care for the body, medicine, etc.
My friend needs time to heal her mind, body and soul and to not have to constantly be worrying and running. She needs a safe and comfortable home to retreat to. She needs rest. She needs not only to SURVIVE with her children, but to LIVE too! She needs peace and love. She deserves it!
