It’s never been easy to be a Black man in America, but now more than ever, we can clearly see how society unfairly targets Black men. The media confronts us daily with negative imagery of Black men including the stereotype that Black men aren’t present, loving, and committed fathers. As a Black man, devoted father, and owner and creator of Jenius Photography, I want to change that narrative...
The Black Fathers Love photo series is a collection of images and short stories to depict Black fatherhood and show how deep their love for their children goes. The goal of this project is to uplift and embrace Black fathers while debunking stereotypes. By authentically capturing these images and voices, I will create a needed source of inspiration for Black men everywhere.
How will I accomplish this?
That’s where you come in! Your donations will help pay for services and materials needed to create a new narrative for Black Fathers Love worldwide. We are collaborating with other Black creatives in design and journalism to bring this project to life. Stand with us and help donate, share, and change our culture. The final result of this project is the Black Fathers Love book that we will self publish by Christmas 2021.
What is the financial impact of this project?
I am doing this project because I believe it's important and it matters and not because I want to generate revenue. I am donating my photography services and each father that sits in front of my camera will not be charged my standard fee, will receive 1 free image, and will only pay for additional images outside of this. Any revenue generated from these additional images will be put back into the project.
Additional cost associated with this project that your donations will allow me to do include:
- New logo design and website enhancements - $100
- Book design and layout - $1900
- Professional writer to write the father's stories - $120
- Bulk printing and shipping of the final Black Fathers Love book - $5000
Will you provide updates on how the donations are used?
Absolutely, as the project progresses, we will post updates on how your donations are being used and distributed. Follow this link for updates and progress of Black Fathers Love photo series. Because this a community effort, it is important to be transparent and honest.
What does your support mean to Black Fathers Love?
Support is everything! My team has supported me through the inception, and planning of this project. This is our baby, and we will keep this project in motion until everyone has a copy of this book. Your support is very precious to us and we could not do this without you!
