Namaste, my name is Anuj Chudel and I am one of the founders of Black Book Distro, a community-oriented anarchist library in Nepal. It is a small open-space located in central Kathmandu where people are free to come following simple guidelines of respect, cooperation and mutual aid. It is open daily and has become a gathering place and important collective safe space for young Nepalis seeking alternative ideas and understandings of the world. The library has a small collection of anarchist/leftist books and provides a unique space in Nepal, where libraries and access to such material is rare. Black Book Distro is focused on anarchist ideas through action, workshops, documentaries, discussion groups, selling merch and most important of all, friendship through shared experience.
We started this project in 2021 as a shared space for people to learn about anarchist ideas in Nepal. Since then, through the library as well as various events and workshops, we have worked with many different individuals and groups. Our goals are simple, to spread anarchist ideas and help people understand the basics of it. So that the notion of society without capitalism and hierarchy will someday feel more realistic than it does now.
We do not have a regular funding stream, so we are requesting support to help pay for the basic operations of the space to keep Black Book Distro open, free, and accessible to all. We are a grassroots anarchist collective, so what better way to raise support than through community. Thank you for your donation, any amount will go a long way.
