Eagle Scout Service Project
Donation protected
I am in the process of raising money for my Eagle Scout project. I will be building an outdoor Archery Range for Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center, along with a covered shooting line, a bench, and a sign to signify that the range is in use. In order to complete my project, I need to raise around $1500 to cover the cost of lumber and other matertials.
Before starting this project, I looked at a number of different options for my project, but I didn’t find anything that I really wanted to do. I wanted my project to be about something I really cared about, and something that would help a lot of people. When I heard that Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center was looking to build an archery range, I jumped on the opportunity. A local 4-H group shoots there every summer, but currently they only have 1 target and a handful of bows that they all have to share. They have to drag the target they have now about 100 yards uphill to get it to where their range is now, and then bring it back when they are done. The range right now is small, and is also right at the base of one of their hiking trails, which makes them have to close the trail when the range is in use.
I have been in the boy scouts since I was 5, and it has been a lifelong goal of mine to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. I could have picked an easier project, but I wanted it to really be something that I cared about and that would make a difference. I have been involved in archery for almost my entire life, and I currently teach a youth archery class at Flying Arrow Sports 2. I am also a bow hunter and competitive archer. Unfortunately, the materials involved in this project are expensive. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
