Hello! As most everyone knows, Kelsey and made the decision last June to open our hearts and home to a 12 year old boy with special needs. "Our boy" and I started at my work about the same time, he was a resident there and I served meals to him. Over time we made a connection in the lunch line saying, "My main man!" to each other as he would walk through the line. Adoption had been weighing heavy on our hearts and while on a trip to her family in Ohio I mentioned the boy to her and when we returned home from the trip, Kelsey told me to go in and ask if the boy was available for adoption. After inquiring about the boy, we learned that he was in fact up for adoption through the Indiana Adoption Program. We started the journey of foster care training and after becoming licensed we started visits with him on the campus he lived on. Our visits started becoming more and more frequent and before we knew it, he started spending weekends with us! On December 21st, he left the residential facility to live with us as our "foster child." Our boy has quite a few things going on with him such as medications, therapies, doctor appointments out the wahzoo, and special schooling. All of that leads to Kelsey and I being stretched thin and relying on different organizations helping us get him to and from school, appointments, etc. while also keeping our jobs. Kelsey and I just became eligible to file adoption papers for our boy July 4th, with that said we're one foster care class away from filing papers and hiring a lawyer. We need your help! We're doing a campaign to help us cover adoption costs for the lawyer to help us better our chances of having services continued with our boy post adoption.  We are so thankful for the love and support we've received during this process, Lord knows it's been one heck of a ride so far!
