Every year 201,000 women die in pregnancy or childbirth in sub-Saharan Africa, mostly of conditions that could be prevented if a trained midwife was in attendance. 
I have been accepted to work as a volunteer midwife at Shanti Birth House, Uganda ... hopefully in January 2019, if I can raise the funds by November this year. My trip will entirely self-funded - I receive no financial gain whatsoever.
