This fundraiser has ended.

You might know that my birthday is coming up on May 6th. If you have followed this page for a while, you might also know that I have started a little tradition some years ago: Every year for my birthday, I create a fundraiser for a good cause. For my birthday, I want to offer some support to others. I’m in a very blessed position, so if you were planning on sending me a gift or a donation for my birthday, please consider donating to this project instead. Thank you so much.

In this year especially, as I am now co-owning a truly AMAZING recording studio, I want to give something back to the music community.

Here’s what I want to do:

I want to offer one recording session in this studio FOR FREE to one band in 2026, who might otherwise not be able to afford recording in a space like this. I will provide the recording facility completely free of charge. But a project like this will still generate some significant costs: the band’s flights and travel, accommodation, and an engineer for the session. The exact details on this recording session can only be decided after the end of the fundraiser. Dependent on the money raised, the project might allow for a smaller or larger band, for multiple recording days, or for post-production.

I specifically want to support up and coming artists. If the fundraising goal is met, I will do a public shout-out here on Facebook towards the end of May to start the application process for any band that is interested. Doing this, I want to make sure that I find a band that I have never personally met before. I am not going to choose friends of mine. More details about all of this will follow then.

Now, this is very important, and I want to make sure that this is well communicated: Even though the money will be paid out to my bank account at the end of the fundraiser, I WILL NOT KEEP ANY MONEY FOR MYSELF. I will not pay myself for any work that I put into this project.

There’s one thing I need to mention here: Gabriel, the engineer who works with us here in the studio, is a friend of mine. Being the engineer of our studio, he will also be the engineer for this project, and I want to make sure that he will get paid for this work. Just because it is my birthday, I do not want to ask him to work for free. Gabriel is a freelancer. He is not employed by me, and he will receive a standard rate for the work he puts into this project.

All money raised will go into this project, to make for the best possible recording experience and results for the band in question. To be as transparent as possible, here is an estimated budget for this project. I want to make sure that you can understand what the money raised will be spent on.

Estimated Budget:

Travel (5 people): 2000 €

Accommodation (5 people, 5 nights): 1500 €

Engineering fee (3 recording days): 900 €

Food & drinks (5 people): 500 €

Extra costs: 300 €

Studio, instruments & equipment: 0 €

Total: 5200 €

These fees are estimates. Depending on the size of the band and the amount raised, the allocation of money might change. A smaller band would reduce costs in travel and accommodation, allowing for more money spent on the actual recording time. If funding exceeds this budget, money will be allocated to post-production or maybe even video as well. This project will not generate profit for me. All of the money will be spent on the production. I will not pay myself a fee for any time that I put into this project, nor will I charge for the use of the studio.
