Who would have thought that by aimlessly scrolling through Facebook during the kid's nap time, our lives would be forever changed?!? Well that is just what happened!
As I was scrolling I saw a campaign for shirts on one of the Angelman community groups. I thought the shirts were neat, but didn't think to much more about it. About 15 min later I saw the same shirt campaign pop up again and thought "what the heck I'll see what they are raising money for". I saw that the shirts were being sold to raise money for a little 3 yr old orphan girl with Angelman Syndrome. When i clicked on her bio, it was like she was calling to me and God had led me to her! I thought about her all afternoon! I messaged Kristen Brewster (whom I can't thank enough for advocating for her) and asked her to tell me all she knew about adopting a child with special needs internationally. I wanted to be prepared with as much information as I could be when Chris got home from work
When Chris got home that evening I couldn't wait to tell him and show him this angel's sweet picture! I know he thought I was crazy (it's not the first time in our 14 yr marriage he had thought this, and things usually turn out ok lol). I told him to think about it and pray on it. I gave him space and didn't bring it up again until a few days later. I answered all his questions the best I could and told him why we could do this. Being the amazing man he is, he was on board! The next day I contacted Nancy with Hand of Help in Adoption and got the process started!
Adopting a special needs child internationally is a fairly quick process, and we have already been approved to have our home study completed! This is where we need your help! It is also quite expensive between court costs, translator fees, flights and accommodations, we need to raise $25000! If you are led to donate like we were led to adopt her, we would greatly appreciate your support! No donation is to small and we can not thank you enough for helping bring this little girl home ❤ May God bless you all, and we will keep you posted on our adoption journey!
