BIO-TIQUIN plant kits for COVID-19 relief

A BIO-TIQUIN is a kit of 10 edible, medicinal and multipurpose plants.
We are a group of concerned citizens and plant breeders who began working on a project to distribute BIO-TIQUINES to vulnerable communities in Ecuador as a medium and long term response to the COVID-19 crisis. During this current health crisis, we realized that we might also be on the verge of a national and global food crisis.
This GOFUNDME will cover some of the costs for this pilot project including operational costs and the cost of producing and transporting the BIO-TIQUINES.
Our goal is to create resilient families and communities that can be self-sufficient and produce their own food. In our BIO-TIQUINES, we tried to include 10 plants that are perennial, require low-maintenance, supply food in the medium and long term, and contribute to food sovereignty at the family and community level.
In our group, we have included 7 plant suppliers who will be distributing BIO-TIQUINES to nearby communities. In the end, 105 BIO-TIQUIN kits will be delivered, and we expect to have benefited 525 people from 105 families.
We will be operating in the 3 regions of Ecuador (Coast, Andes, and Amazon) and intend to cover different Ecoregions such as the Tropical humid forest of Chocó, lower montane forest, and Inter-Andean scrub.

Un BIO-TIQUIN es un kit de 10 plantas comestibles, medicinales y multipropósito.
Somos un grupo de ciudadanos preocupados y productores de plantas que comenzaron a trabajar en un proyecto para distribuir BIO-TIQUINES a comunidades vulnerables en el Ecuador como respuesta a mediano y largo plazo a la crisis del COVID-19. Durante esta crisis de salud, nos dimos cuenta de que también podríamos estar al borde de una crisis alimentaria nacional y mundial.
Este GOFUNDME cubrirá algunos de los costos de este proyecto piloto, incluyendo costos operativos y el costo de producción y transporte de BIO-TIQUINES.
Nuestro objetivo es crear familias y comunidades resilientes que puedan ser autosuficientes y producir sus propios alimentos. En nuestros BIO-TIQUINES, incluiremos 10 plantas que son perennes, requieren poco mantenimiento, suministran alimentos a mediano y largo plazo y contribuyen a la soberanía alimentaria a nivel familiar y comunitario.
En nuestro grupo, hemos incluido 7 proveedores de plantas que distribuirán BIO-TIQUINES a las comunidades cercanas. Al final, se entregarán 105 BIO-TIQUINES, y esperamos beneficiar a 525 personas de 105 diferentes familias.
Estaremos operando en las 3 regiones del Ecuador (Costa, Andes y Amazonas) y tenemos la intención de cubrir diferentes ecorregiones, como el bosque húmedo tropical del Chocó, el bosque piemontano y el matorral interandino.
