Hi. I am Kathy. I run Kat Kares, named after my daughter, Katrina, who was senselessly killed in a distracted driving crash in 2011. We work with the unhoused community of Georgetown, TX. Each Friday at 4 PM, we provide a hot dinner and snacks outside Georgetown Public Library.

There are many challenges with these folks. When you don't have an address, you don't qualify for a lot of benefits. They do not have anywhere to warm up food or to carry food, for that matter. They typically have to carry what they own in a backpack. You cannot work in Texas without a valid ID. You cannot get a valid ID without a local address and proof of residency. We work to help them get a temporary local address, proof of residency, birth certificates, and other items they need to move forward in their lives. It's a complicated issue, and I would love to talk to you about it if you ever have any time! Trust me, it takes a village to help these folks in the many ways that they need.

This GoFundMe is to set up a bi-monthly mobile shower and laundry service for A YEAR! The $50 covers the cost of the trailer but does not include the propane. We will have the mobile trailer moved to the Georgetown area twice a month, allowing the people to do laundry and take a shower.

It's very difficult to go to a job interview if you haven't had a shower in 30 days! Please consider just donating $5 to help this group get the shower service set up that they need. This really does help the entire community of Georgetown, Texas. Thank you, and please share as you see fit.
